The Journey
of RoofLock
Roof Lock was created to improve worker safety in high paced commercial construction environments. Workers often ignore safety protocols due to the time requirement and difficulty to set up traditional anchoring systems.
Carlos Braga came to Canada and started working doing Sheet Metal Deck installation in 1990. In 1998 he decided to branch off on his own and created his own Sheet Metal Decking Installation company, Metalcom Decking Limited. He has done installation work for some of the top companies around the Greater Toronto Area including, Gage Metal Cladding, Aecon, Orlando, PCL, and EllisDon to name a few. Some of his notable job installations include, Toronto Convention Center, Toronto Union Station, Princess Margaret Hospital Tower, the Hilton Tower in Niagara Falls, Darlington Nuclear Plant, and Bruce Power Plant.
During his years of work there were never any efficient temporary anchors that would go through the deck without causing damage to the sheet metal. This gave him the idea of creating Roof Lock. A temporary, easy to install roof anchor that locks through the deck onto the steel structure. It takes 30 seconds to install and can be used anywhere on the roof deck without leaving any visible damage from underneath.
